Founder & Relationship Specialist

Nardine Staroverov

Hello! Welcome to my practice! My name is Nardine Staroverov, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Connecticut and the owner of The Connected Marriage.

I am grateful and honored to have this incredible opportunity to work at my private practice doing what I love, which is providing couples therapy and marriage counseling to individuals and couples who are going through major life transitions.

It’s a fact that relationships are essential to our emotional wellbeing, and the family or couple unit provides most of us with an opportunity for such connections.  However, some of us may not have had the opportunity to form healthy relationships in our family of origin.  Much to our dismay, we can sometimes find ourselves recreating the same negative patterns in our relationship with our significant other.

Since we are not born knowing how to have a healthy relationship or successful marriage, it's important to know that it is something that we can learn and succeed at.  Fulfilling relationships requires work and intentionality.  If you and your partner are ready for change and are willing to put in the work, I am honored to help in this exciting journey of discovery.

As a therapist, a mom, and a wife, I understand firsthand what it takes to balance a career and parenting while still finding ways to maintain a healthy connection with my husband.

I believe that we are all capable of changing our situation and possess the inner strength to do so.  Sometimes, we just need a little guidance and support. That’s where I come in.

Why am I qualified?

I have been in the field for over 10 years and have extensive experience working with couples, families, children, and groups.  I have worked in the context of community mental health agencies and private practice.

I use a relational model of couple’s therapy called Emotionally Focused Couple’s Therapy (EFT). The basic idea behind EFT is that underneath your fights with your partner, there is a desire to feel secure. Fights happen because you don’t feel connected. Research suggests that couples who underwent emotionally focused couples therapy had a high success rate in moving the relationship from a state of distress to emotional recovery.
